Fundamentals Lab – Class Objectives
Upon completion of Fundamentals Lab, students will be able to:
Demonstrate safe handgun handling using universal firearm safety principles in a laser-based, no-live-fire training environment.
Explain basic handgun operation and how core fundamentals apply consistently across handgun platforms.
Establish a proper grip and stance that supports stability, balance, and repeatable performance.
Apply correct sight alignment and sight picture, confirmed through real-time laser feedback.
Execute smooth, controlled trigger presses while maintaining sight alignment and minimizing unnecessary movement.
Identify and correct common shooting errors using laser diagnostics and instructor coaching.
Apply targeted decision-making skills in virtual scenarios, including:
Target discrimination
Shoot / no-shoot decision processes
Accuracy accountability under mild cognitive stress
Demonstrate composure and focus while performing fundamental skills during structured virtual and laser-based drills.
Build confidence and consistency through repetition without recoil or live ammunition.
Understand the role of dry-fire and virtual training in preparing for safe progression into live-fire training.
